Q. How can I access the Library and library resources during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic?
The Library is open only to Goucher College faculty and staff who have permission to be on campus. Everyone in the library is required to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing, following campus Face Covering & Physical Distancing guidelines. A valid One-card is required for entry and is needed to gain access through the Athenaeum doors.
Students who are currently off-campus may request access to campus for academic purposes. The Provost reviews all requests.
Materials and Research
Start at www.goucher.edu/library/. All of our databases are accessible from off-campus. You will be prompted to log in with your Goucher ID (example: doeja001, not your full email) and password when clicking on a database link.
Search for a topic using the WorldCat Search box on the library website. Use the left side-bar to narrow to eBooks. Ebooks can also be accessed via Overdrive.
Print Books and Other Physical Materials at the Library
Faculty and staff may enter the library to browse shelves and check out materials. Library materials will be available to circulate and upon an item's return, it will be cleaned or quarantined depending on material type.
All students may request items to be sent to them via mail.
- Search for an item in the catalog.
- Click the blue "Request this item" button.
- Fill out the form. Be sure to enter non-Goucher mailing address.
- If it is available at Goucher we will retrieve it and mail it to you.
- The limit for students is 5 requests per day and up to 25 per semester.
We are processing ILL requests as we can. Many libraries are not lending physical materials, so some items may be difficult to obtain. When in doubt, make the request and we will try to locate and obtain the material.
Once your requested items arrive on campus you will receive an email from the library with instructions on how you will receive your materials. The limit for students is 5 requests per day and up to 25 per semester.
Faculty: Use our request form to ask for electronic materials to support your classes.
Students: Contact us at email@example.com for help identifying online material for class assignments.
If you are not able to return an item by its due date, email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
